Defending Bure League Champions Halvergate made a great second half comeback to win 7-3 away to title hopefuls Watton Expendables. Glen Hume, Kacy Suffolk & Chris Willies got Expendables off to a good start with an 18-10 win against Donna Lamb, Ray Lamb & Trevor Brown. The game was level at 8-8 after nine ends but Chris Willies' triple then surged ahead winning all but one of the remaining six ends. The other first half game ended in a 12-12 draw between Rob Howlett, Chloe Suffolk & Simon Willies of Expendables and Halvergate’s Kerry Greenacre, Sue Fox & Keith Cooke. After the break Halvergate produced the form that has seen them dominate the Bure League in recent years. Halvergate’s Jackie Smith, Robbie Lamb & Ryan Fox were 9-1 up after eight ends and although the home triple of Elaine Willies, John Jeffery & Robin Amos held their own after that, Fox’s triple finished the game 14-8 ahead. Mike Tate, David Crosby & David Lamb also kept the pressure on the home team in the other second half game and led 11-7 after ten ends. Expendables George Hume, Sid Burton & Jack Marshall fought back to trail by just two shots with two ends remaining but David Lamb’s triple scored a single on the penultimate end and two more shots on the last end to win 16-10.
