Bob Carter continued their first season run of success in the Bure League after Alfie Woods, AJ Brown & Jason Woods won the Bure Triples Championship at Horsford BC on Tuesday night. While other triples dropped vital points the talented Carter trio reeled off four straight wins to finish with eight points. They opened their account with a 6-2 win against home triple Phil Mildon, John Lofthouse & Sally Bates before beating defending champions Ray Lamb, Steve Hall & Keith Cooke of Halvergate 6-3 in their second game. A big clash came next against Watton Expendables’ George Hume, Jack Marshall & Chris Willies, which Carter won 7-3, before clinching the title with a comfortable 11-1 win against Hevingham’s Aleck Haynes, Pat Hall & Richard Moore. The Watton Expendables triple finished in second place with five points. Their evening had started slowly trailing 7-0 against the Hevingham triple after just two ends but took four shots on the last end to clinch an 8-8 draw. After beating Horsford 5-3 in their second game they went down by 7-3 against Jason Woods’ Carter triple. A 6-2 win against Keith Cooke’s Halvergate triple secured the runner-up spot in the final session. Last years winners Halvergate finished third with four points, Hevingham were fourth with three points while Horsford BC were fifth.
