Horsford Heroes’ superb start to the City of Norwich League season continued with a 12-2 home win against visitors Windows. The Heroes have their eyes set on ending Horsford Gold’s dominance in the City League and this win maintains their twelve point lead at the top with a game in hand over both second placed Thorpe Marriott and third placed Horsford Gold. Former England international Carol Aggas, Mally Kemp & Chris Woodhouse led the way with a 15-8 win while David Crosby and Roger Frank’s triples both won as well. Former Heroes star Mark Tuttle, playing with Wendy Cheal & Paul Brock, scored Window’s only win by 13-8. Taverham continue to improve and show real promise as they climbed another place up the table to fifth position after a 14-0 maximum win at home to Thorpe Marriott that damaged the visitors title asperations. Thorpe Marriott fielded a strong line-up, including several current and ex Norfolk County Squad players, but found Taverham just too hot to handle on the night. Fred Matthews, Lesley Turner & Brian Turner top scored with an excellent 18-5 win for Taverham. Trevor Winter, David Riches & Marjorie Hall won 14-7 as did Ann Furness, Sheila Sawyer & Carol Bullard. Jean Young, Pat Hall & Richard Moore made it a perfect result by adding a 13-11 win. In other matches Costessey’s topsy turvy season continued as they swept Jarrolds aside 14-0. Defending champions Horsford Gold won 12-2 at British Rail while First Bus won 12-2 at home to Horsford Blue.
