Connaught A push for runners-up spot

Breckland League action saw Connaught “A” improve their chances of finishing as runners-up behind Wymondham with a maximum 10-0 home win against Harling Unicorns. Richard Broad, Mike Parsons & Paul McDonald won 21-7, Derek Liles, Graham Etteridge & Mike Minshull won 24-12 while David Aldous's triple won 19-8 and Bob Oatway's triple won 17-10. Connaught “A” have shown a marked improvement after their disappointing campaign last season that saw them finish fifth in the table. Thetford are another side who have improved since last season and their 10-0 home win against Shropham takes them up to fourth place. Their top scorers were Clive Eke, Mike Holbrook & Jason Martin who won their game by 34-12. Pauline Barsby deserves much praise for the formation of Thetford and their growth into a competitive league side. Forncett won a tight match 6-4 away to Hingham with Gill Coleman, Martin Humphries & Tony Ottewell winning 29-7. Despite this win they are unlikely to match last season’s finish of third place, their points tally has without doubt been affected by injuries to one of their top players Mike Smail that has curtailed his appearances.

David Aldous

David Aldous of Connaught A won 19-8

Bob Oatway

Bob Oatway of Connaught A won 17-10
