Bure League action last night saw Hevingham pull off an 8-2 away win at Watton Expendables in both team’s final league match of the season. The unexpected result saw Hevingham inflict Watton's heaviest home defeat of the season in the Bure. The visitors enjoyed a great start as Steve Easter, Teresa Goldsmith & Selwyn Goldsmith led throughout against Andy Rawnsley, Rob Howlett & Robin Amos on their way to a 14-6 win. The other opening game saw a dramatic finish as both sides went into the final end level at 13-13. Hevingham’s Billie Barker, Lesley Turner & Brian Turner had trailed 12-4 against Glen Hume, Jack Marshall & Kacy Suffolk after eight ends but then won six of the last seven ends to snatch victory by 14-13. The second half saw Hevingham’s Teresa Goldsmith, Pat Hall & Richard Moore lead Pix Hyam, Sid Burton & Chris Willies 10-5 after ten ends. Going into the final end the Expendables triple had cut the deficit to just 12-11 but Teresa Goldsmith had drawn in two great woods to pile the pressure on the Watton skip. His decision to launch a ferocious fire shot in an attempt to kill the end backfired as his blistering attacking wood sent a bowl flying over the fender, therefore forfeiting three shots and leaving Moore’s triple with a 15-11 win. The home sides only win was achieved by Elaine Willies, George Hume & Chloe Suffolk who beat Lesley Turner, Val Easter & Melvyn Barker by 18-7. On the last end Chloe Suffolk’s triple looked like earning the match points for the home side but Barker’s last wood took shot to take Hevingham’s overall total to 50 shots against Watton’s 48 shots.
Watton's Chris Willies and Sid Burton posed another problem by Teresa Goldsmith & Pat Hall
