Halvergate keep pressure on Bure League rivals

Defending Bure League champions Halvergate will be pleased with an 8-2 away win at Thorpe Marriott where Donna Lamb, Steve Hall & Ryan Fox stormed to a 27-6 win against Derek Sheldrake’s triple and Mike Tate, Ray Lamb & Robbie Lamb won 22-8 against Tony Turner’s triple. Keith Cooke’s triple scored a narrow 14-13 win in the second half against Andy George’s triple while Thorpe Marriott’s only win was a 12-11 result for Gillian Amos, Sylvia Turner & Kath Frost against David Lamb’s triple. This result leaves Halvergate in second place, thirteen points behind leaders Bob Carter, but with two games in hand they are well placed in their quest for yet another Bure League Championship title. Hevingham won 8-2 at home to Horsford BC with Billie Barker, Alan Bunn & Richard Moore leading the way with an impressive 24-8 win against Dennis Seaton’s triple. Nigel James, Pat Hall & Jane James scored seven shots over the final two ends to win their game by 18-13 against Chris Walsgrove’s triple who had been in front for much of the game. Aleck Haynes, Lesley Turner & Brian Turner weighed in with a 19-8 win against Brian West’s triple with Haynes playing his best bowls since returning to the side. Horsford’s two points were picked up by Richard McPhee, Tim Blackman & Malcolm Makins who beat Melvyn Barker’s triple 15-7. This game saw Malcom Makins in great form producing vital woods to deny Barker’s triple every time they looked set to collect big counts.
