Norfolk Premier began their Inter-County Championship campaign with a heavy 34-6 points win, 227-122 on shots, against Cambridgeshire at March IBC. On paper the result was expected although Cambs did collect one win in the singles, where ex England international Joe Peters beat East Harling’s young star Sid Burton 14-9, and two wins in the triples courtesy of the K West, J Thorpe & C West triple. Otherwise it was business as normal for the strong Norfolk Premier line-up despite missing Jack Pye and AJ Brown who were unavailable for the opening fixture. Norfolk earned all ten points in the fours where Chloe Suffolk, Simon Warnes, Karl Newby & David Lamb won 16-4 & 17-7 and Billie Barker, Jack Gray, Keith Cooke & Jon Sparham won 13-4 & 22-1. Maximum points were also earned in the pairs where Jack Marshall and newly appointed Assistant Manager Gary Best won 13-10 & 17-6 and Neil Davidson & Debbie Sparham won 15-5 & 13-9. Halvergate’s Ryan Fox collected wins of 13-7 & 15-8 in the singles. Norfolk Premiers next fixture is away to Suffolk on 3rd November where they won heavily last season.
