In the Breckland League defending champions Wymondham were awarded a 10-0 points win, 32-0 on shots, against Connaught “B” who forfeited the match at North Wymondham Community Centre. Ironically this was probably a much less margin than if the match had taken place at Wymondham’s home venue where the champions have averaged just over 111 shots a match against the visiting teams average of just 29 shots. It could be deduced therefore, under current Breckland League rules, that Connaught “B” achieved a much better result through forfeiting the match than if they had actually played it. This is not something that was probably envisaged when the rule was put in place originally. But at that time having a team as talented as Wymondham in the Breckland League, whose best home result this season was won by 10-0 on points and 152-9 on shots, was not a consideration. Second placed Connaught “A” lost serious ground on the leaders as they were defeated 8-2 at Thetford. Clive Eke, Peter Harvey & Kacy Suffolk won 23-7, Brian Jermy, Chloe Suffolk & Jason Martin won 21-5 and Suzanne Kenny, Peter Scarborough & Neil Thomas won 19-9 as the visitors found it difficult to compete with a rampant home team. Carleton Rode are in third place but with games in hand look well positioned to finish the season as runners-up. The Rode won 8-2 at home to Forncett with Graham Mobbs, Terry Newby & Karl Newby scoring the games biggest win of 16-10. The weeks other match saw Harling Griffins win 8-2 at Hingham where Ann Walker, Loretta Smith & Paul Rogers won by 18-7.
