Connaught “A” began 2025 with two thumping 10-0 home wins that moved them up to second place in the Breckland League. They inflicted a painful 10-0 defeat on visitors Harling Griffins with Jenny Moon, Graham Etteridge & Bob Oatway winning 20-10 and Elaine Willies, Roy Taylor & Simon Willies winning 20-6.They followed that up with another maximum win in their local derby against Connaught “B” which was expected as their opponents have lost all their nine matches so far this season. In this match David Aldous, Richard Broad & Paul McDonald won by 26-9. In the weeks remaining game a hard fought 5-5 draw was the result at Hingham where Thetford were the visitors. The visitors collected two wins and a draw but a 16-7 win for Hingham’s June Reynolds, Will Townsend & Joy Townsend earned the home side an overall 53-52 shots advantage and gained them the two match points to force the draw. In the Breckland Five Pairs competition Wymondham won 66-22 at Shropham and will meet Carleton Rode in the semi-finals after Shropham conceded the match choosing not to play the away leg at North Wymondham. In the other semi-final Thetford will play the winners of the Connaught “A” v Hingham match. The semi-finals have to be played by the 2nd March.
