Tight at the top in South Norfolk League

The opening two matches of 2025 in the South Norfolk League has left three teams tied on 40 points and a fascinating battle for the title in prospect. And with defending champions Hempnall just ten points adrift in fourth place, and with a game in hand over two of their rivals, it looks like being the tightest title battle for years in the SNL. Horsford won 8-2 at bottom of the table Mulbarton where Carol Aggas, Margaret Harman & John Aggas won 29-6, Chrissie Warnes, Mick Dale & Chris Woodhouse won 31-5 and Vic Webster’s triple added a 15-13 win. John Allen, Helen Dervereux & the experienced David Baker picked up two points for the home side with a 21-14 win. The result left Horsford top of the table with 40 points and +176 shots. In a match between two of the other title contenders Forncett beat visitors East Harling 8-2 on points. Brian Preece, Nigel Youngman & Mike Smail led the way with a big 21-7 win while Linda Preece’s triple won 14-13 and Mark Watson’s triple won 16-6. Harling’s sole win of the night was a 23-12 win for Linda Chilvers, Laurie Harris & Nigel Battley. Both teams are now on 40 points with Harling second in the table with +160 shots and Forncett third on 40 points with +111 shots.
