Bob Carter gained a crucial 3-0 away win at the home of defending Tens League champions Hempnall after a stunning second half comeback. Hempnall went into this match top of the league and undefeated and at the interval looked well on their way to repeating the win they had achieved at Carter early in the season. Jon Sparham & Chris Mann had beaten Jason Woods & Simon Willies 19-16 in the opening pairs game while Chris East, Debbie Sparham & Paul Baker had stretched Hempnall’s lead to eleven shots after an excellent 17-9 win against Carter’s trio of ex England internationals Nigel Willard, Steve Bridge & Melvin Woods. But Bob Carter are nothing if not resilient and hit back with a vengeance after the break. Jean Woods, Rob Howlett & John Turner defeated Lewis Cranston, Charlie Archer & Rob Cranston 19-12 but far more serious damage was inflicted on the home team as Roger Parker & Neil Davidson crashed to a 25-11 defeat at the hands of Jason Forster & Gary Best. The result leaves Carter as favourites to snatch the title from Hempnall who saw their run of nine successive victories come to an abrupt end.
