Four straight wins saw Bob Carter’s Morgan Warnes & Gary Best win the Bure Pairs Championship title at Halvergate. The draw for playing order meant that the opening game was between Halvergate’s David Lamb & Ryan Fox and the Carter duo with the result bound to have a huge impact on who would lift the title. David Lamb won the title last year with former team-mate Jason Woods and was looking to make it his for the third year in a row. To add more spice to the mix Morgan, when a member of Halvergate, had previously lifted the title in 2015 playing with David Lamb and in 2016 partnered by Keith Cooke. The opening game proved cagey starting with a no-score first end and the low scoring game finished just 3-2 in favour of the Carter pair after the six ends had been played. After that the Carter pair beat Lesley & Brian Turner of Hevingham 9-3, Kacy & Chloe Suffolk of Expendables by 12-0 and Horsford’s Christine Walsgrove & Steve Beckett by 19-0 to wrap up the title. David Lamb & Ryan Fox finished as runners-up after beating the Expendables pair 8-4 and the Horsford pair by 14-1 but finished with a 4-4 draw against the Hevingham pair.
