NCSMBA Competition Secretary Mike Smail has announced that the Memorial Pairs event set to take place at Hingham on Sunday 20th March has a 9.30am book-on time for a 10am start. The annual event is held in memory of NCSMBA bowlers that are sadly no longer with us. All competitors are asked to provide a raffle prize on the day with all proceeds going to the chosen charity which is selected by the eventual winners. The Memorial Pairs is a three wood event that has traditionally provided an excellent day of bowls. When the charity event was first held in 1992 it was named the Eddie Medler Pairs in memory of the former NCSMBA Officer who played for Hevingham SMBC. After several years the NCSMBA Management Committee decided to rename the competition the Memorial Pairs in memory of all NCSMBA bowlers who had passed on. The first ever winners in 1992 were D Oakes and Mrs D Bates of Woodbastwick with Carol Aggas of Bob Carter and John Turner of East Tuddenham the second winners in 1993 followed by Terry Tye and Ray Wells of Connaught in 1994.
