Halvergate won a hard fought contest by 6-4 at Hevingham in the Bure League. The visitors started the match knowing that a maximum 10-0 win would have taken them ahead of leaders East Tuddenham on shot difference but had to be content with a win in a high scoring encounter. The first half was shared with Keith Baker, Karl Newby and Jason Woods storming to a 22-3 win against David Sharpe’s home triple while in reply Joan Costello, Teresa Goldsmith & Selwyn Goldsmith beat Simon Warnes’ triple 17-10. After the break Hevingham’s John Wade, Pat Hall & Steve Hall beat Robbie Lamb’s triple by 19-7 but the match points were earned for Halvergate by David Crosby, Ryan Fox & Keith Cooke who beat Paul Brock’s triple 30-4. After five straight defeats Horsford BC earned their first Bure League win of the season beating visitors Thorpe Marriott 8-2. Terry Raisbury’s triple won by 23-7, Ernie Mills’ triple won 20-4 and Malcolm Makins triple won 23-9 as Thorpe Marriott struggled on the difficult Horsford mats. Mandy Marshall, Tony Turner & Derek Sheldrake picked up Thorpe Marriott’s two points with an excellent 18-11 win. Breckland League leaders Wymondham beat third placed Connaught “A” 8-2 to give themselves a 22 point lead over second placed Carleton Rode. Mikey George made a comeback at lead for Steve Easter and Jon Sparham and they won by a comfortable 32-7 margin. Chris Mann’s triple added a 16-15 win and Debbie Sparham’s triple won by 19-6. Connaught’s consolation win was earned by Elaine Willies, Lee Fallows & Simon Willies who beat Melvyn Barker’s triple 11-10. The bottom two teams met at Shropham where Harling Griffins were the visitors. Both teams won two games apiece with Shropham collecting the bonus points for a 6-4 win. Denise Warboys, Peter Walker & Richard Broad scored what proved to be the vital win scoring a 23-7 victory. Other games saw Forncett win 8-2 at Harling Unicorns while Hingham won 6-4 at home to Connaught “B”. In the City of Norwich League Costessey had a fantastic week with a 14-0 home win against First Bus and another 14-0 win away to Horsford Blue. Horsford Gold remain well clear at the top of the table following a 10-4 away win at Windows and a 12-2 home win against Thorpe Marriott. South Norfolk League action saw Horsford move closer to leaders Connaught with a 10-0 maximum home win against Hingham. Christine Warnes, Mick Dale & Chris Woodhouse led the way with a 21-6 win. Connaught won 6-4 at Saxlingham who remain at the foot of the table. Saxlingham also went down 8-2 at Forncett and 7-3 at local rivals Hempnall. Its tight at the top of the Waveney League but Wortwell lead the way after winning at home to second placed Broome. Bradwell were held to a draw by visitors Broome while Kessingland went down heavily at Wortwell. Diss are just one point behind leaders Diss in the Winter Afternoon League after beating Thetford 10-0 with Morris Taylor’s triple winning 23-2.
