The venues and dates of the 2017 Bure Singles, Pairs & Triples Championships have been announced. The action begins with the Bure Pairs Finals at Kirby Bedon on Monday 13th March where Halvergate’s Morgan Warnes & Keith Cooke will defend their title. Expected to be in contention are two vastly experienced East Tuddenham pairings, Melly Woods & John Turner and Jean Woods & Simon Willies. The other finalists are Ray & Barbara Ayres of Horsford BC, Kath Frost & Richard Perkins of Thorpe Marriott, Rex Cox & David Sharpe of Hevingham, Ray Lamb & Robbie Lamb of Halvergate and Steve Hall & Alec Haynes of Hevingham. The Bure Triples Finals take place at Woodbastwick on Tuesday 14th March. 2016 champions Geraldine Potter, Gerald Potter & Chris Mann of East Tuddenham have qualified as well as last years runners-up Brenda Sizer, Diane Boswell & Mike Boswell. A question mark hangs over whether Mike Boswell will be able to play after a recent injury which may lead to a substitute taking his place. Two strong Halvergate triples have qualified, Keith Cooke, Robbie Lamb & David Lamb and Ray Lamb, Morgan Warnes & Simon Warnes. Other finalists are David Sharpe, Betty Cox & Steve Hall of Hevingham, Derek Gaskin, Brian Jermy & Vic Webster of Heroes, Carol Aggas, Phil Watson & John Aggas of Kirby Bedon and Mandy Marshall, Richard Perkins & John Jarvis of Thorpe Marriott. Horsford BC will host the Bure Singles Finals on Thursday 16th March. Defending champion Chris Mann of East Tuddenham is sure to prove a formidable force to be reckoned with while last year’s beaten finalist David Lamb of Halvergate & England will be looking for revenge. Keith Cooke of Halvergate has also qualified and will be some peoples choice for the title while his teammate Robbie Lamb, regular singles player for Norfolk “A” this season, will relish the opportunity to cause an upset. The line-up is completed by Melvyn Barker of Kirby Bedon, John Jarvis of Thorpe Marriott, Keith Halford of Windows and Mick Dale of Heroes. Players are requested to arrive at the venues by 7pm. The draw for the quarter-final matches will then take place with play starting at 7.15pm.
