With nine defeats from nine matches in the Bure League Horsford BC would not have expected much from their home game against title chasing East Tuddenham. But they came close to springing a major surprise until Chrissie Turner, John Turner & Simon Willies saved the day for the visitors with a stunning 27-3 win to earn their side the match points and a 6-4 away win. Horsford BC made their best start of the campaign so far as Ken Reynolds, Piero Cognetti & John Bugg defeated Rob Howlett’s triple 16-3 and Cathy Fiddy, Barbara Russell & Pauline Strivens weighed in with a 20-8 win against Elaine Willies, Jean Woods & Melvin Woods. But that was as good as it would get for Horsford BC as East Tuddenham made a stunning comeback. Gillian Amos, Gerald Potter & Robin Amos beat Paul Isgate’s triple 18-4 and Simon Willies’ triples win of 27-3 against Brian West’s triple saw East Tuddenham across the winning line. Undefeated Halvergate remain title favourites though after a terrific performance at Woodbastwick earned them a 10-0 away win. Woodbastwick can be a difficult venue for visiting teams but Halvergate made it look all too easy as they scored a total of 71 shots against Woodbastwick’s 34. Kerry Greenacre, Keith Baker & Keith Cooke scored the night’s biggest win beating Willie Jefferies’ triple 20-8. Mike Tate, Karl Newby & Jason Woods won 18-8, Jackie Smith, Ryan Fox & David Lamb won 18-9 and John Norfolk, Ray Lamb & Robbie Lamb won 15-9 as Halvergate moved further ahead at the top of the table.
