The big match of the week in the Bure League saw Halvergate win 8-2 at championship rivals East Tuddenham. After their defeat at Hevingham in their last outing East Tuddenham were hoping to re-ignite their title push against the defending champions but in a match that saw four tight games it was Halvergate who came out with the lion’s share of the points. Mike Tate, Ryan Fox & Jason Woods (pictured) edged out Melvin Woods’ triple 15-13 while the other first half game went Tuddenham’s way with Jean Woods, Laura Hawksworth & Chris Mann beating Simon Warnes’ triple by just one shot. An equally tight second half saw John Norfolk, Ray Lamb & Robbie Lamb beat Robin Amos’ triple 15-11 and Mike Harvey, Jackie Smith & David Lamb emerge with a 14-13 win against Simon Willies’ triple. Halvergate took their good form into their next match as they romped to a 10-0 home win against Thorpe Marriott and moved to the top of the league. Mike Harvey, Ryan Fox & David Lamb led the way beating George Clarke’s triple 27-6 while Robbie Lamb beat Kath Frost 21-3. Windows suffered two successive 6-4 defeats. Woodbastwick gained a 63-62 shots win at Windows to grab the two match points with Brian Bunting, Norma Jablonowski & Peter Jablonowski beating Di Boswell’s triple 27-16 and Matthew Mills, Elaine Cole & Lianne Mills winning 19-10 against Melly Woodhouse’s triple. Windows wins came courtesy of Mike Boswell & Keith Halford who won by 16-6 & 20-11 respectively. Horsford BC achieved their second win of the campaign by beating Windows 6-4 with a big 26-6 win for Keith Winder, Christine Walsgrove & John Bugg against Andy Drummie’s triple, and an 18-10 win for Barbara Ayers, Malcolm Makins & Ray Ayres against Keith Halford’s triple, securing the points. Mike Boswell & Melly Woodhouse skipped Windows winning triples. In the Tens League Hevingham collected two points at home to Connaught scoring a 51-44 shots win. Despite all four games being close the home side came out in front in all four. In the pairs David Sharpe & Marjorie Hall won 14-13 and Lesley Crowe & David Bunn won by 14-11. The triples saw Richard Moore, Rex Cox & Aleck Haynes win 12-11 and Betty Cox, Joyce Vincent & Alan Bunn win 11-9. Coastal Cup action saw leaders Bradwell Dynamos win 14-4 away to Bradwell Robins in a local derby while in another local derby Woodbastwick Owls won 10-8 at Woodbastwick Eagles. South Norfolk League leaders Diss entertained Shropham who are one off the bottom but they were restricted to a 6-4 home win. The visitors proved to be more resilient than expected and won two of the games with Dennis Green, Peter Fleckney & Russell Davidson beating Graham Mobbs’ triple 18-11 and Tony Cursley, John Court & Richard Stevens beating Graham Atter’s triple 21-12. Horsford beat Hingham 6-4 with a 21-10 win by Vic Webster’s triple making the difference. There were two maximums in the City of Norwich League as Thorpe Marriott won 14-0 at home to British Rail and Framingham Earl won 14-0 at home to Horsford Blue. Second placed Horsford Heroes won 11-3 at home to First Bus as did County Council at home to British Rail. Jarrolds suffered a 12-2 home defeat at the hands of Windows and third placed Costessey managed an 8-6 away win at Taverham where they would have expected to pick up more points. Breckland League giants Wymondham enjoyed a huge win at home to Harling Griffin scoring a 156-26 shots win and collecting all ten league points. Brian Saunders, Steve Easter & Mark Linsdell won 50-3, Billie Barker, Jack Marshall & Jon Sparham won 49-6, Roger Steele, Melvyn Barker & Chris Mann won 34-8 and Pat Saunders, Laura Hawksworth & Debbie Sparham won 23-9. Four nights later Harling Griffins put this disastrous result behind them as they won 8-2 at home to Forncett with Carol Newman, Rob Newman & George Cody winning 30-8. Connaught “B” won 6-4 at home to Hingham with John Winup, Joyce Hazell & Paul McDonald winning 20-6. Winter Afternoon League action saw Hingham win 6-4 at Thetford with Reg Wilson, Jock Pollock & Pauline Wilson leading the way with a 19-3 win. Shropham won 8-2 at home to Watton with Malcolm Thurston, Peter Fleckney & Richard Broad winning 18-6. Harling won 8-2 at home to Thetford with Iris Smith, Liz Gazzaniga & Stuart Langridge winning 17-5 and Ian Beckford’s triple adding a 17-8 win.
