After requesting Norfolk to play a friendly match Essex “B” were once again unable to field a full team for their visit to Hingham. It was a problem that has occurred before over the last couple of years but this time the visitors were only able to muster ten players for the friendly at Hingham. Norfolk Manager Simon Willies loaned Essex “B” a Norfolk bowler for each of their five triples to enable the match to be played. Never-the-less the match proved useful for the Norfolk manager to assess the form of his players prior to the next I.C.C county matches. George Clarke and Melvin Barker skipped their Norfolk triples to four wins apiece, Steve Easter and Mike Smail (pictured) to three wins apiece while Graham Mobbs won twice. The match finished with Norfolk winning 32-8 on points, 253-159 on shots.
