They may be bottom of the Tens League without a point this season but Connaught came within one shot of causing the upset of the season when they entertained Bob Carter this week. A stunning first half saw Connaught build up,a nine shot lead as Di Quadling & Sylvia Parsons beat Jason Woods & Simon Willies 16-14 in the pairs while David Quadling, Jack Marshall & Joe LiRocchi beat Carter’s Sue Hunt, Nigel Willard & Rob Howlett 18-11. After the break a tight triples match saw Carter’s Elaine Willies, John Turner & Melly Woods win by just one shot against Mike Smail, Mike Parsons & Mike Minshull. But it was Bob Carter who snatched victory by 56-55 on shots for a 2-0 points win as Jean Woods & Gary Best ran out 17-8 winners against Elaine & Bob Oatway to avoid a shock defeat. Bure League champions East Tuddenham cruised to an 8-2 away win at Thorpe Marriott. The first game saw the night’s biggest win as Elaine Willies, Rob Howlett & Melly Woods beat Tony Turner’s triple 23-6 while Kim Bridge, Gerald Potter & Trevor Brown beat Sylvia Turner’s triple 18-10. Gillian Amos, John Turner & Gary Best added Tuddenham’s third win beating John Jarvis’ triple 21-9 while Sheila Redwood, Bob McPherson & George Clarke scored the home sides only win of the match beating Simon Willies’ triple 12-9.
