With two 10-0 wins, at home to Carleton Rode and away to Hingham, Wymondham are once again Breckland League champions. In truth there has been little doubt for weeks, and probably before the season even started, that Wymondham would be celebrating yet another title as there is little sign that any other team in the league can match them with the impressive line-up that they can field. Carleton Rode look likely to finish as runners-up in the league but their visit to Wymondham ended in a massive defeat that demonstrates the huge difference between Wymondham and even the second best team in the league. Wymondham collected an incredible total of 128 shots against just 18 as Carleton Rode felt the full force of Wymondham’s superiority on their own mats. Steve Easter, Melvyn Barker & Jack Pye led the onslaught with a 35-1 win while Hayley Osbourne, Debbie Sparham & AJ Brown won 38-5. David Chadwick, Jack Marshall & Jon Sparham added a 29-4 win and Billie Barker, Andrew Jackson & Chris Mann won 26-8. Three days later Wymondham won 10-0 at Hingham with Jon Sparham’s triple winning 22-5, Chris Mann’s triple winning 19-8, Jack Pye’s triple winning 20-14 and Debbie Sparham’s triple winning 12-8. Other games saw Thetford win 8-2 at home to Harling Griffins, with Kacy Suffolk’s triple winning 22-4 and Jason Martin’s triple winning 22-10, while Forncett won 6-4 at Harling Unicorns. Connaught “B” had suffered sixteen defeats from sixteen matches but finally tasted success in an 8-2 home win against Hingham.
