Horsford Heroes are the new City of Norwich League champions. After winning 10-4 at home to Horsford Gold and 10-4 again away to Thorpe Marriott they now sit 41 points clear of second placed Thorpe Marriott and cannot be caught. Their home win against defending champions Horsford Gold saw Lynn Frank, Margaret Harman & John Aggas win 22-9 while their top scorers in their win at Thorpe Marriott were Carol Aggas, Vic Webster & Chris Woodhouse. It is Horsford Heroes sixth City League title although the last time was way back in the 2000-01 season. It has been a disappointing campaign for Horsford Gold after several seasons of dominating the league. Eight wins and eight defeats from sixteen games leaves them in a mid-table position. Thorpe Marriott are now certain of the runner-up spot, a place they occupied from 2019 to 2022. They last won the title in 2016-17. Other results saw Thorpe Marriott win 12-2 at British Rail with Sylvia Turner, Kath Frost & Derek Sheldrake winning 20-7. Former Woodbastwick bowler Sheldrake has been in excellent form this season for Marriott. Costessey won 12-2 at home to Windows with Joy Townsend’s triple winning 14-4, Graham Tweed’s triple winning 13-5 and Will Townsend’s triple winning 14-5. Nigel Hurn, formerly of County Council, was Windows’ only winning skip with a 12-11 win. Di Quadling, Betty Cox & Lesley Crowe won 19-3 as First Bus beat Jarrolds 10-0 at St Catherines on Aylsham Road.
