The NCSMBA would like to issue a reminder on the use of coloured chalk at Norfolk’s county venue at Hingham Sports & Social Club when using County Equipment. While there is no problem at all in using coloured chalk to mark touchers during games it is the policy of the NCSMBA to bar the use of coloured chalk to mark the position of the jack or touchers in the ditch when playing on the NCSMBA county mats. While white chalk marks are easy to remove when the mats are vacuumed, coloured chalk marks are far more difficult to remove. Recent use of red chalk by a bowler to mark the position of bowls and the jack in ditches has proved, as always, extremely difficult to remove. As previously stated coloured chalk can of course be used to mark touchers but please do not use coloured chalk to mark the position of woods or the jack in the ditch. White chalk only should be used for this purpose.
