The ESMBA Open Fours competition held at Hingham Sports & Social Club on Saturday saw Wymondham’s AJ Brown & Jack Pye feature in the winning rink playing with Ryan Knight of Hampshire & Adam Smith of Cheshire. Their opponents in the final included Gary Best of Bob Carter who was playing with Jody Frampton, Richard Stagg & Danny Hogben of Kent. It was a close fought encounter that went down to the last end. In the semi-finals the eventual winners beat Chris Willies of Watton Expendables who played with George Cherry, David White & Steve Buckett of Hampshire while the rink featuring Gary Best beat Morgan Warnes & Jason Woods of Bob Carter who were playing with Jack Knight & Emily Thomas of Dorset. Other Norfolk players taking part were Wymondham’s John Jefferies, whose rink won Group 3, and Thetford’s Peter Harvey, Clive Eke, Jason Martin & Mio Kontik who finished third in Group 3. Jack Marshall of Wymondham and Keith Cooke, Ryan Fox & David Lamb of Halvergate failed to qualify in Group 4 as did Simon & Elaine Willies, playing with Dorset’s Brian Baker & Lynn Dean in Group 3.
