Norfolk “A” opened their I.C.C campaign with a healthy 27-13 win away to Essex on points, 225-165 on shots. The fours returned maximum points for Norfolk with Jan Smail, Hayley Osborne, Graham Mobbs & George Hume winning their first game by a mighty 18-0 scoreline and following that up with a more conservative 13-7 win in their second game. Elaine Willies, Joy Townsend, Steven Lamb & Jason Martin won their games by 12-10 & 15-5. Also achieving two wins were Mike Smail & John Jeffery in the pairs with a win of 22-5 followed by a narrow 13-11 win. Player-manager Jack Pye made a surprise A team appearance in the singles where he beat B Addis 18-11 and then won by 21-6 against P Reed.
