Wortwell recently held its annual Charity Triples Tournament in aid of Guide Dogs. The event was well supported and fully subscribed with 16 teams coming together from both Norfolk and Suffolk. To make things challenging a power cut for a couple of hours meant a number of games were played in gloomy conditions but everyone battled on until the lights came back on. Through the generosity of everyone involved £280 was raised for Guide Dogs with special thanks to those who donated raffle prizes and made cakes which were on sale throughout the day. Volunteers from Guide Dogs also came along, together with canine companions, including an adorable puppy. The Guide Dogs stall selling an array of mechanise was very popular and again generated much needed funds for the charity. As for the bowls, winning their way through to the semi finals were Thetford who played Denton and Wortwell Warriors who played Forncett. In the final the team of David Baker with Sheila Smith and Gerald Smith from Denton were victorious beating the team of Tony Ottewell with Jan and Mike Smail from Forncett.
