Norfolk “A” put in a great shift at Solihull to defeat Cornwall 29-11 in their I.C.C knock-out match. Mike Smail & John Jeffery took maximum points in the pairs winning their games by 24-7 & 17-8 as eight of the ten points came Norfolk’s way. The fours also collected eight of the ten points in that discipline as Hayley Osborne, Jason Martin, Terry Newby & Melvyn Barker won their games by 15-7 & 17-9. In the triples Billie Barker, George Hume & Robin Amos were unbeaten winning their opening game by a stunning 25-2 before fighting back from 8-1 down to draw their second game 9-9. Manager Jack Pye selected two of Norfolk’s young starlets to play in the coveted singles spots and both played their part in gaining six of the ten points. Sid Burton of Harling won his second game by 17-10 while Chloe Suffolk of Thetford opened with an identical 17-10 win. The six points Chloe & Sid gained are the most points achieved by “A” team singles players since Jack Pye became manager. Both Sid & Chloe can be proud of their performances on the day and look to have great futures in the sport. Kacey Suffolk, another of Norfolk’s new wave of bowlers, switched to skip in the second of her pairs games with David Blundell and produced a superb 23-6 win. Solihull will be the venue for the next two big games for the Norfolk teams on 18th Feb with Norfolk “A” facing Kent “A” and Norfolk Premier playing Cheshire Premier.
