Wortwell, who currently top the Waveney League, have earned themselves a place in the Norwich Cup semi-finals with a convincing 43-15 shots home win against Connaught of the Breckland League. Connaught led 2-1 after two ends but with Wortwell using their first wild card on the third end the home side moved 5-2 ahead. After twelve ends the match was still tight with Wortwell just 15-11 in front and a close match looked in prospect. But the home side then moved up a gear or two winning the next nine ends to lead 34-11 and the match was effectively over. The Wortwell team consisted of Ron Saitch, Keith Worsfold, Chris Roberts, Robert Banbury, Tom Bell, Michael Harvey, David Blundell & Tony Oram. Wortwell have another home draw in the semi-finals where they will entertain the winners of the Thetford v Halvergate which is being played on Wednesday. In the other semi-final an all Breckland League clash will take place with Wymondham being drawn at home to Harling Yellow.
