With two games still to play Hempnall have been confirmed as South Norfolk League champions for the ninth year in a row. But a real dogfight is on for the runners-up spot with Diss & Horsford level on 65 points each. Horsford won 6-4 at Connaught where Roger Frank’s triple won their game by seven shots to earn the match points. Diss destroyed visitors Saxlingham by 10-0 on points, 58-20 on shots, as Saxlingham’s season went from bad to worse. Terry Newby’s triple won 20-2 in the night’s biggest win. Diss will have been less pleased with a 6-4 home defeat against Hingham with Margaret Hunter’s 19-10 win, and Keith Thomas’ 20-10 win, inflicting a surprise defeat. Hingham also won 6-4 at home to Connaught with a seven shot win for Keith Thomas earning the match points.
