Six starter sessions of short mat bowls have been announced by NCSMBA Competition Secretary Mike Smail for people living in the Long Stratton area. They will all be held at the Long Stratton Leisure Centre on six Sundays beginning on the 31st July and ending on the 4th September. Those who played short mat bowls in the early days of the sport in the late 1980’s will remember tournaments being held at this excellent venue. All ages are welcome to attend the sessions, which will run from 11.30am to 1.30pm, and the cost will be just £2.50 per person. If successful short mat bowls will become a regular feature at the venue. It is hoped that the venture will attract families to try out the sport. If anyone fancies coming along to have a look, they will be most welcome. A big thank you to those in the sport who answered the recent request for equipment to enable the sessions to begin, they included Karl Bunn and David Baker.
