Jason Woods of Bob Carter and Chris Willies of East Tuddenham are the new Norfolk County Pairs champions after they defeated Wymondham’s Debbie and Jon Sparham by 11 -4 in the final at Hingham. They had built up a good lead of 8-2 after five ends and there was to be no way back for the Sparhams. The result leaves Chris Willies holding the Norfolk Triples, Fours and Pairs titles in what has been an amazing first season for him since moving from the West Midlands. All eyes will now be on this young man to see if he can add the Norfolk Singles title to his growing collection on the 2nd January. It was the second time Jason Woods had won the Norfolk County Pairs title having been successful in 2013/14. In the play-off for third place Jack Pye of Wymondham and Neil Davidson of Hempnall beat Halvergate’s father and son pairing of Ryan Fox and David Lamb by 13-8. Woods and Willies reached the final with a 7-2 semi-final win against Pye and Davidson and a 6-5 quarter-final victory against the defending champions Morgan Warnes and Gary Best of Bob Carter. Debbie and Jon Sparham’s route to the final was via a 7-5 win against Ryan Fox and David Lamb in the semi-finals and a 7-6 win against Owen Cranston and Chris Mann in the quarter-finals. In the other quarter-final matches Jack Pye and Neil Davidson won by 15-3 against Thetford’s Peter Harvey and Jason Martin and Ryan Fox and David Lamb beat Kerry Greenacre and Keith Cooke by 7-6.
