The joint Norfolk County Triples/National Triples Qualifiers were played at Hingham and produced a tight and competitive final. Neil Davidson of Hempnall, Jack Pye of Wymondham and Chris Willies of East Tuddenham faced Robert Howlett of Bob Carter, Simon Willies of East Tuddenham and Jason Woods of Bob Carter with Woods’ triple drawing first blood with a single on the first end. After six of the scheduled eight ends had been played the scores were level on 4-4. The penultimate end saw Chris Willies’ triple move 5-4 ahead and another single on the last end clinched them the title. The result left former West Mids star Chris Willies celebrating his second Norfolk County title this season after already winning the Norfolk County Fours. The play-off for third place saw Halvergate’s David Lamb, Ryan Fox and Keith Cooke beat Hempnall’s Owen and Claire Cranston, skipped by Wymondham’s Chris Mann, by 11-4. In the semi-final stage Chris Willies’ triple beat Chris Mann’s triple 9-8 after scoring a match winning two shots on the last end, the other semi-final saw Jason Woods’ triple beat Keith Cooke’s triple 6-5. With a very low entry of only eleven triples taking part only three groups were needed, two groups of four and one group of three. Jason Woods’ triple won Group One, that consisted of three triples, with Elaine Oatway, Lesley Crowe and Bob Oatway second. Group Two was won by Chris Willies’ triple with Keith Cooke’s triple second. Group Three was won by Chris Mann’s triple with Donna Lamb, Ray Lamb and Robbie Lamb in the runner-up spot. Cooke’s triple beat Robbie Lamb’s triple 8-4 in a play-off game for a semi-final spot.
