East Tuddenham through in Bure Cup

With East Tuddenham taking a 19-5 points lead to Horsford BC for their Bure Cup second leg match the outcome was predictable but credit must go to the home side for making a fight of it. Some teams might have conceded without playing the second leg but Horsford BC opened in style to let their illustrious visitors know they were not giving in without a fight. Barbara Ayres, Richard McPhee and Ray Ayres won their first game 7-5 against Chris Willies’ triple on mat one while B Russell, Ken Reynolds and Christine Walsgrove beat Robin Amos 7-4. Christine Bugg, Pauline Strivens and John Bugg added an 8-2 win against Robert Howlett’s triple in the second session while Chris Turner, John Turner and Simon Willies scored the visitors first win of the evening beating Bob Burrage’s triple 11-1. These first two sessions had reduced Tuddenham’s aggregate lead to ten points but the third session saw the visitors pull away again as Gillian Amos, Gerald Potter and Robin Amos won 10-3 and Chris Willies’ triple held Christine Walsgrove’s triple to a 6-6 draw. The fourth session was drawn, sealing an aggregate victory for East Tuddenham by 26-14 on points, as Robert Howlett’s triple won for Tuddenham and John Bugg’s triple won for Horsford who conceded leaving two sessions unplayed. East Tuddenham will now play Thorpe Marriott in the semi-finals while Halvergate will play Hevingham.
