Breckland League giants Wymondham took maximum points at Harling Unicorns where they demonstrated that it will be a major surprise if they do not retain the title yet again. David Chadwick, Laura Hawksworth & Jon Sparham opened with a tight 17-16 victory against Mike Tarrant’s home triple but Hayley Osbourne, Owen Cranston & Chris Mann stormed to an 18-5 win against Roger Braham’s triple to give the Wymondham wonders maximum points from the first half. After the break Wymondham wrapped up a 10-0 points win with Steve Easter, Jack Marshall & Melvyn Barker winning 18-11 and Billie Barker, John Jeffrey & Debbie Sparham winning 19-9. Harling Griffins began their campaign with a 6-4 home win against Hingham. Leading the way were J Horne, S Smith & G Hume with a 31-5 win against John Chapman’s triple while R Newman, Val Easter & G Hume beat Jill Townsend’s triple 17-12. Top scorers for Hingham were John Hunter, Margaret Hunter & Graham Tweed who beat P Hyam’s triple 21-8. Forncett won 8-2 at home to Connaught “B” with Jan Smail, Terry Thorpe & Mike Smail winning by 19-5. In the SNL Hempnall won 10-0 at Forncett with Mike Greenacre, David Blundell & M Pearce beating Mike Smail’s triple 27-6. The title favourites completed the job with Paul Baker’s triple winning 21-11, Keith Cooke’s pair winning 18-9 and Neil Davidson’s pair winning 15-11. Saxlingham Nethergate suffered two away defeats. They went down 8-2 at Shropham, where B Draper & D Green won 17-9, and lost 9-1 at Harling where I Beckford, R Beckford & D Ryder won 28-6. Bure League action began at Hevingham where the home side beat Horsford BC 8-2. Leading the way were Pat Williamson, Pat Hall and Steve Hall with an impressive 30-9 win while David Sharpe’s triple won 13-11 and Andy Drummie’s triple won 13-12. Ray Ayres’ triple scored Horsford’s only win beating Marjorie Hall’s triple 25-7.
