In light of the outbreak of coronavirus, and the World Health Organisations decision to upgrade the Covid-19 virus to a global pandemic, the SMPT has announced the cancellation of the Belfast Open & World Masters. This was scheduled to take place from 17th to 19th April 2020. In a statement published on their website they said that “We have not taken this decision lightly and wanted to give players as much notice as possible.” The SMPT will not be rearranging the World Masters so the 2019/2020 SMPT season ends now. The SMPT’s World Rankings and Order of Merit will therefore remain as they currently stand. All the players in the top four positions in the Race to the World Cup will qualify for the World Cup in August. All further details of refunds etc can be found on the SMPT website.
