Mann and Marshall retain triples title with Cranston

Wymondham's Jack Marshall and Chris Mann successfully defended the county triples title with County Council's Owen Cranston who replaced Carleton Rode's Neil Davidson due to him being unavailable if they had qualified for the nationals. The group stages saw them beat Thetford's Mick Colledge, Peter Scarborough and Peter Harvey and then saw them beat Elaine Oatway, Lesley Crowe and Bob Oatway in a close game by 11-9. The quarter finals saw them up against Halvergate's Kerry Greenacre, Horsford BC's Simon Warnes and Halvergate's Keith Cooke who were for large periods the better triple as they led 2-6 with just an end to play. But a fortunate last bowl by Mann gave his triple four shots, and with Cooke having last wood but failing to take advantage, the match went to an extra end on which Mann's triple played their best end of the match to take three shots for a 9-6 win. The semi finals saw another match Mann,s triple trailed in as Bob Carter's Robert Howlett, East Tuddenham's Simon Willies and Bob Carter's Jason Woods led 2-6 but a 1,3,1 over the last three ends saw Mann,s tri[ple clinch the match 7-6.  Skip Jason Woods narrowly missed with his last wood as Marshall, Cranston & Mann survived another scare. The final however saw the triple put on their best performance of the day as they beat Bob Carter's Jamie Forster and Halvergate's Ryan Fox & David Lamb 13-2 with an end to spare. Forster, Fox and Lamb enjoyed a great day with wins over Thetford's Jason Martin, Wymondham's Mel Barker and Bob Carter's Jason Woods' triples. The quarter finals saw them produce an 11-5 win over Forncett's Mike Smail, Tony Ottewell and Peter Lock and in the semi finals they eased to an 11-0 win over Bob Oatway's triple. The third place play-off was won by Woods with a 10-3 win over Oatway. Quarter final results were M. Woods 3 B.Oatway 15, D. Lamb 11 P. Lock 5, J. Sparham 5 J Woods 9 and C. Mann 9 K. Cooke 6.
