Norfolk Over 60’s entertained Derek Barley’s Select side from Suffolk for an annual match that always delivers an enjoyable day of short mat bowls for all concerned at Hingham. And so it proved to be again despite Teresa Goldsmith’s Norfolk Over 60’s team inflicting a heavier than expected defeat on their visitors. Each team consisted of eight triples who all played three games each during the day. Four of Norfolk’s triples won all of their games as the home side racked up a 39-9 win on points, 251-142 on shots. Jill Davidson, Steve Easter & Russell Davidson won their games by 17-7, 10-6 & 19-6, Elaine Oatway, Janet Pinchen & Terry Newby won by 14-2, 12-8 & 20-2, Lesley Turner, Richard Broad & Tony Oram won by 10-6, 13-5 & 11-7 while Melly Woodhouse, David Blundell & Mike Boswell won 9-5, 11-3 & 9-1. Also unbeaten were Sue Baker, Geoff Payne & John Jarvis who won games by 8-5 & 8-6 and drew their other game 6-6.
