Bob Carter's Elaine Willies and Robert Howlett emerged victorious in the national over 55 pairs qualifier final against Forncett's Tony Ottewell and Mike Smail. Both skips rued missed opportunities throughout but the Forncett pair looked out of it after trailing 9-6 with an end remaining but snatched a three on the last end to force an extra end. Mike Smail played a good last wood to take shot in the extra end but all that was required of Rob Howlett was a two foot draw which he duly obliged with to take the win by10-9. The third fourth playoff was won by Wymondham's Billie and Melvyn Barker who beat Connaught's Shelia Bragg and Shropham's Richard Broad 11-5. The semi-finals saw Smail beat Barker 7-4 while Howlett beat Broad 10-5. The quarter final results were Howlett 16 M. Greenacre 4, S. Fox 8 T. Ottewell 9, G. Clarke 6 R. Broad 8, P. Walker 6 M. Barker 9.
