Last season’s Norwich Cup finalists Connaught “A” are out of this year’s competition after suffering a 12-4 defeat away to Halvergate. The home side won all four games in the first half to put themselves in complete control. The opening triples session saw John Norfolk, Jackie Smith & David Lamb beat Owen Secker’s triple 10-7 and Mike Tate, Graham Punchard & Keith Cooke (pictured below) beat Derek Liles triple 9-3. The Halvergate pairs were both in great form with Ray & Robbie Lamb beating Sylvia Parsons and Lee Fallows by 11-3 while Steven Lamb & Josh Baxter beat Di Quadling & Sheila Bragg by 19-1. Bill Adcock, Mike Parsons & Owen Secker got points on the board for Connaught with an 11-5 win against Keith Cooke’s triple but the match was decided as David Lamb’s triple beat Derek Liles’ triple 8-5. The last session of pairs saw Halvergate’s Ray & Robbie Lamb beat Sheila Bragg’s pair 11-2 while Connaught’s Sylvia Parsons & Lee Fallows beat Steven Lamb & Josh Baxter 9-8. Halvergate now join cup holders Bob Carter, Wymondham, Hempnall, Bradwell, Harling, Hevingham and Framingham Earl in the quarter-finals with the draw scheduled to take place later this week.
