Jack Pye withdraws from Norfolk Squad

Wymondham’s Jack Pye, reigning SMPT English Masters Champion, has withdrawn from the Norfolk County Squad for the 2018/19 season due to his changed work commitments. The surprise withdrawal comes prior to Norfolk Premier’s opening match against Kent Premier at Hingham. Neil Davidson of Hempnall has been added to the team for Sunday’s match as a replacement. Fortunately it will not signal the end to Jack Pye’s involvement at the top level as he will still continue to play in SMPT events. On the last weekend in October Pye will travel to Norway to take part in the Norwegian Masters along with Wymondham team mate Mark Linsdell. On Saturday 1st December he will compete in the SMPT Taylor Bowls World Fours in Chelmsford. He is playing in an exceptionally strong rink which also features the talents of four time Norfolk Singles Champion Neil Davidson, former England Singles Champion Dom Reed of Essex and the legendary Steve McAlister. The following day he will compete in the SMPT Taylor Bowls World Pairs with Karl Hudson of Somerset. Neil Davidson will also be appearing in this event paired with Mo Binstead. After that Pye’s next big event will be the SMPT Verdemat Bowls British Open in York on January 12th & 13th in which Mark Linsdell, Steve Easter & John Jeffery of Wymondham have also entered. Entries are still open for this event which is limited to 192 bowlers.
