Norfolk Over 60’s entertained Cambridgeshire Ladies for a friendly challenge match at Hingham and Norfolk again named an all ladies team for the game. After a tight first session that was drawn 6-6 on points Norfolk edged into a two point lead after the second session. But the third and fourth sessions saw Norfolk move up a gear or two to complete a heavy 34-14 points win in which they scored 222 shots against Cambs total of 148. The top Norfolk triple of the day was Val Vardy, unattached, Kerry Greenacre of Haddiscoe and Jane James of Horsford Heroes who scored seven points out of eight with wins of 10-4, 15-3 & 10-7 and a 9-9 draw. Four of the Norfolk triples all scored six points out of eight. The three wins for Di Quadling, Joan Costello & Janet Pinchen were by 15-4, 7-6 & 12-6, a triple where Pam Chapman, Wendy Tweed, Elaine Oatway & Lesley Crowe shared games earned wins of 14-1, 15-4 & 11-3, Mary Potter, Billie Barker & Sue Fox’s wins were by 8-5, 9-6 & 8-5 and Gillian Coleman, Jill Davidson & Trish Taylor’s wins were by 10-8, 7-6 & 14-3. The Norfolk side were happy to see Wendy Tweed of Hingham back on the mats after an enforced break and she was in excellent form. A separate competition was run to keep the Over 60’s men occupied and this was won by Mike Boswell of Windows with a total of 44 shots. Rob from Cambs was second on 40 shots with Terry Newby and David Quadling joint third with 39 shots.
