Selwyn Goldsmith to stand down as Norfolk Manager

Norfolk County Team Manager Selwyn Goldsmith has announced that he does not intend to re-stand for the position when his current two year term ends on March 31st. He was appointed County Manager in 2012 and led Norfolk Premier to their first Inter-County Championship triumph in twenty years when they defeated Essex Premier in the 2016 final following quarter-final & semi-final victories against defending champions Hampshire and eight time winners Cheshire. He said that lifting the I.C.C trophy was one of his greatest experiences in his thirty years of short mat bowls and that he would never forget the incredible spirit in the team and the support that the players gave him. His tenure has seen Norfolk switch to their now familiar yellow & green polo top style playing uniform and compete against the Irish & Welsh champions in Tenby in the 2016 British Isles Top Team Championships where they inflicted a rare International Rinks defeat on Mid Ulster on the opening days play. Under his management Norfolk Premier have reeled off six straight wins so far this season to finish top of their I.C.C group while Norfolk “A” have also finished as group winners in their section and both will compete in the quarter-finals in February. A high number of new players were brought into the squad throughout his years in charge. All club secretaries should have received notification of the application process to appoint a new Norfolk County Manager for the next two year term which commences on the 1st April. Any NCSMBA registered member who wishes to apply for the post of County Team Manager should send their application letter to Mrs Jenny Walker, NCSMBA Secretary, 26 Wensum Valley Close, Lower Hellesdon, Norwich, NR6 5DJ by the 7th February.
