The NCSMBA is deeply saddened to learn of the death of Russell Hales who has passed away after a long illness. He was a regular member of the hugely successful Connaught side that dominated the Breckland League for many years and also represented Norfolk in the County Squad. During that time Russell won two Norfolk County Triples titles as well as a Norfolk County Mixed Fours title. He lifted his first Norfolk County Triples title in 1997/98 with fellow Connaught bowlers Ray Wells & Bill Adcock and added another title in 2005/06 with Connaught’s Andrew Stratton & Sheila Bragg. He appeared in another Norfolk Triples final in 2008/09 with Lee Fallows & Sheila Bragg when they finished as runners-up. He won the Norfolk Mixed Fours title in 2007/08 playing with Andrew Stratton & Sheila Bragg of Connaught and Sue Hunt of Bob Carter. Russell was also a valued founder member of the Norfolk Over 60’s Squad which he played for over many years. He will be sadly missed by all his bowling friends and we wish to express our sincere condolences to Sheila. Funeral details will be published at a later date.
