Bob Carter title push continues

Six wins in a row have moved Bob Carter clear at the top of the NCSMBA Summer League Division One table. Visitors Kirby Bedon were the latest team to go down 8-0 at Drayton where Carter have only dropped one point all season. Nigel Willard, Jason Woods & Melvin Woods opened for Carter with a 21-8 win against Carol Aggas, Phil Watson & John Aggas while John Turner, James Forster & David Lamb beat Gerald Chilvers, Tony Oram & Joe Brown 16-20. Melvin Woods’ triple were again in brilliant form after the break beating Joe Brown’s triple 26-3 while David Lamb’s triple beat John Aggas 12-10 in the remaining game. Deaf Sports were in great form at Halvergate where they pulled off a maximum 8-0 win. Halvergate, a player short, were forced to play Steven Lamb & Keith Cooke without a number two and they lost 20-13 against Lesley Crowe, Rob Cranston & Laura Hawksworth. Gillian Amos, Colin Coman & Robin Amos added a 17-15 win against Robbie Lamb’s triple to give Deaf Sports a 4-0 interval lead. Things failed to get any better for Halvergate in the second half as Robin Amos beat Keith Cooke’s pairing 12-11 and Laura Hawksworth beat Robbie Lamb’s triple 16-11. Diss earned a share of the points at Kirby Bedon. The home side enjoyed a perfect first half as Carol Aggas, John Aggas & Phil Watson beat Terry Newby’s triple 18-7 and Shirley Brown, Gerald Chilvers & Joe Brown won by two shots against Graham Mobbs’ triple. The tables were turned though in a second half that belonged to Diss as Angela Bond, Graham Atter & Graham Mobbs beat Phil Watson’s triple 18-9 and Terry Newby’s triple beat Joe Brown by 20-14. Another 4-4 draw was played out at Thorpe Marriott where Halvergate were the visitors. Kerry Greenacre, Roy Walker & Keith Cooke opened with a convincing 19-9 win against home skip George Clarke while Jenny Walker, Ted Redwood & John Jarvis replied for Thorpe Marriott with a 17-11 win against Simon Warnes. Two close games followed in the second half with Sheila Redwood, Kath Frost & Tony Turner beating Halvergate’s Keith Cooke 14-12 while David Knights, Ray Lamb & Simon Warnes beat George Clarke by a single shot. The top of the table clash in Division Two saw Watton move closer to leaders Horsford by beating them 6-2 away. Michael Conran, Malcolm Southgate & Will Hoggan did the damage with wins of 15-14 & 20-9 while Roger Braham’s triple added a 14-12 win. But the biggest win of the night saw Horsford’s Nigel James, Carol Kemp & Vic Webster storm to a 24-3 win against Roger Braham’s triple that took the shine off the result for Watton. Another six points were safely gathered in by Watton at home to Hingham with Roger Braham’s triple leading the way with two wins but yet again the nights biggest win was a consolation result only as Pauline Wilson’s triple hit the heights with a 24-3 win. Windows slipped to a 5-3 home defeat against Hingham with Will Townsend, Pat Groombridge & Keith Thomas winning 30-6. It is still early learning days for new boys Shropham who slipped to an 8-0 defeat at Forncett where Peter Lock’s triple scored the biggest win of 18-7.
