At their first meeting following the Norfolk AGM the NCSMBA Management Committee backed a proposal by Competition Secretary Chris Mann to implement major changes to the County Points system. The points system, which allows players to accumulate points in the joint Norfolk County Championships/National Qualifier events, gives bowlers the opportunity to earn an automatic county squad place. Previously the identical number of points were awarded in all five disciplines, with the Mixed Fours winners receiving the same as the Singles Champion. That will all change from the coming season with a different scale of points awarded in each event with singles receiving the top number. The Singles Champion will receive 50 points with the runner-up earning 40, third place 30 and fourth place 20. Pairs winners will receive 40 points, runners-up 30 and 20 & 15 for third and fourth respectively. The Triples and Fours Champions will earn 30 points each, runners-up 20 points, third place 15 and fourth place 10 points. The Mixed Fours Champions will receive 15 points each, the runners-up 10 points, third place 7 points and fourth place 5 points. Points will also be earned in each event for those qualifying for the quarter-finals, last 16 and knock-out places when applicable. At a previous meeting the committee had agreed that from the 2018/19 season the Top 15 in the Norfolk Points Table will receive automatic squad invites instead of the Top 30. The changes are the first major adjustments to the Norfolk Points System since its introduction many years ago
