Connaught A & Wymondham to meet in 5 Pairs Final

Breckland 5 Pairs semi-final action saw Connaught “A” beat Thetford by just four shots on aggregate after a great performance by David Aldous & Paul McDonald in the second leg at Attleborough. Connaught went into the second leg twelve shots down after their first leg defeat at Thetford and quickly found themselves twenty three shots adrift after Thetford’s Kacy Suffolk & Jason Martin beat Elaine & Simon Willies 13-2. Richard Broad & Graham Etteridge pulled three shots back for Connaught beating Glynis Holbrook & Peter Scarborough 8-5 and an 11-6 win for Richard Harrison & Bob Oatway saw Connaught cut the deficit to minus fifteen shots. Derek Liles & Mike Minshull continued the home sides fightback with a 13-6 win against Michael Holbrook & Clive Eke before David Aldous & Paul McDonald saw Connaught “A” over the finishing line first with a 17-5 win against Neil Thomas & Chloe Suffolk. In the other semi-final Wymondham were already three shots ahead of Carleton Rode when they started the second leg at North Wymondham. Wymondham quickly increased their lead after Jack Marshall & Chris Mann beat Graham Atter & Trish Taylor 13-4 and Steve Easter & Debbie Sparham beat Karl Bunn & Russell Davidson 18-2. There was no way back for the Rode as Wymondham’s Hayley Osbourne & AJ Brown won 11-3, Melvyn Barker & Jack Pye won 17-1 and John Jeffery & Jon Sparham won 17-6. The final between Wymondham and Connaught “A” will take place at Hingham on 17th April. Breckland League action saw Harling Unicorns win 10-0 at home to Connaught “B” with Unicorns scoring 112 shots against just 23. Rosie Beckford, June Kendall & Ian Beckford scored a heavy 40-2 win with Connaught “B” recording their fifteenth defeat from fifteen games since returning to the Breckland League. Forncett won a hard fought match 6-4 at home to Thetford with an excellent performance by Becky Humphreys’ Forncett triple making the difference.  Harling Griffins won 7-3 at Shropham where Joy Neave, John Davies & George Cody won 21-10 for the visitors.
