Windows enjoyed a solid 12-2 home win against Taverham in the City of Norwich League as they climbed up to fifth place in the table. It was their fifth home win in a row and their venue is proving to be a difficult place to go for away teams. Wendy Cheal, Andy Drummie & John Wade won 14-9 against Carol Bullard’s triple while Steve Davies, Pat Williamson & Mark Tuttle won 12-6 against Marjorie Hall’s triple. Their third win was delivered by Diane Halford, Keith Halford & Diane Boswell who beat Jane James’ triple 15-11. Taverham’s only success came from Jean Young, Pat Hall & Richard Moore who beat Nigel Hurn’s triple 12-8. Key players Lesley & Brian Turner were missing from the Taverham side which would not have helped their cause against a side in such good home form. Horsford Heroes remain clear at the top with a convincing 13-1 home win against British Rail and have an unblemished record of ten games and ten wins to their name. This increased the gap to eleven points between them and second placed Thorpe Marriott who won 12-2 at Jarrolds. Richard Perkins, Val Perkins & Derek Sheldrake were in good form for Marriott winning 15-5 while Tony Turner won 10-5 and Robin Amos won 9-8. Third placed First Bus won 12-2 at the home of defending champions Horsford Gold. Bob Oatway’s triple won 12-7, Steve Hall’s triple also won by 12-7 while Glennis Holmes won 13-8. Mick Dale was the only home skip to win beating Chris Brooks’ triple 13-4. An upturn in form for Horsford Gold is needed soon if they are to keep in touch with Horsford Heroes and Thorpe Marriott in the race for the title.
