In the South Norfolk League Connaught collected maximum points at home to Mulbarton with Lorraine Buck, Roy Taylor & Bob Oatway winning 31-4 aided and abetted by David Aldous’ triple winning 23-10, Mike Minshull’s triple winning 17-7 and Richard Broad’s triple winning 17-14. Forncett’s first SNL match of the season saw them win 8-2 at East Harling. The visitors achieved two 21-12 wins courtesy of Ron Butler, Nigel Youngman & Tony Ottewell and Gill Coleman, Becky Humphreys & Peter Lock while Martin Humphreys, Jan Smail & Mark Watson added a 17-7 win. Harling’s only points were earned by Loretta Smith, Jill Hayman & Colin Hayman who won their game by 16-11. In the Breckland League defending champions Wymondham, despite fielding a weakened team, still produced the goods winning 10-0 at Connaught “B”. Billie Barker, David Chadwick & Jon Sparham won 20-9, Hayley Osborne, Andrew Jackson & Chris Mann won 24-11, Steve Easter, John Jeffery & Debbie Sparham won 22-7 while Valarie Vardy, Simon Warnes & Melvyn Barker won by 15-8. Second placed Carleton Rode slipped to a 6-4 loss at Forncett where home skip Peter Lock and his triple won 23-3. Connaught “A” are in third place after an 8-2 home win against Thetford and a 5-5 draw at Hingham. Richard Broad, Graham Etteridge & Roy Taylor top scored against Thetford returning a 34-6 win. Harling Griffins enjoyed two home wins beating Hingham 6-4 and beating Forncett 8-2. Melvin Vanlint, Jill Hayman and Sid Burton won 25-11 for Griffins against Hingham. Defending champions Hempnall beat Saxlingham Nethergate 10-0 in their local derby with Neil Davidson’s triple winning 30-2, Keith Cooke’s triple winning 24-5, Paul Baker’s triple winning 21-6 and Gavin Gray’s triple winning 17-14. This week the City of Norwich League Pairs Championship heats were played with First Bus getting two of their pairs through to Final Night. They won the heats hosted by British Rail and at Jarrolds. Horsford Gold won the heat at First Bus while Horsford Heroes won the heat held at Horsford BC. Jarrolds, who were runners-up at Horsford BC, and Thorpe Marriott who were runners-up at Jarrolds, also qualified. In the Coastal League Bradwell teams now occupy all top three spots in the table. Bradwell Dynamos move top of the table with a 14-4 away win at Woodbastwick Eagles. Bradwell Acorns won 10-8 at home to Gorleston Links Blue and are in second place. Bradwell Robins are third after winning 16-2 at home to Gorleston Links Red. Woodbastwick Eagles suffered a surprise 11-7 defeat away to Gorleston Links Blue.
