Potters Cup Weekend 2024

The hugely talented Wymondham triple comprising of John Jeffery, Debbie Sparham & Jon Sparham retained the Potters Cup with yet another rock-solid performance in the International Arena at Potters Leisure Resort in Hopton-on-Sea on the Norfolk coast. In the final they faced Paula Cooke, Kerry Greenacre & Keith Cooke who took a single on the first end to lead for what was to be the only time in the all-Norfolk final. A great shot by Jon Sparham saw the defending champions taking a 3-1 lead on the second end with the score remaining the same after a no scoring third end. Cooke’s triple kept the game tight by taking a single on the fourth end but Sparham’s triple scored singles on the last three ends to win an entertaining final 6-2.  The Potters Shield Final saw another all Norfolk encounter between Hayley Osborne, Steve Easter & Val Easter who played against Claire Cranston, Owen Cranston & Chris Mann. Chris Mann’s triple were in irresistible form as they built up a 6-1 lead after five ends. Despite the best efforts of their opponents Claire, Owen & Chris kept up the pressure to eventually record a 10-2 win. Just missing out on reaching the Shield Final were Lesley Turner, Alison Eastgate & Brian Eastgate who finished level on points with Val Easter’s triple but four shots adrift of them mainly due to an opening game defeat against Chris Mann. The Potters Cash Pairs event on the Sunday was won by the Wymondham pairing of John “Rocker” Jeffery & Chris Mann with maximum points and a +47 shot difference. Second were Kerry Greenacre & Keith Cooke of Halvergate who also scored maximum points but with a +26 shot difference. Third were Debbie and Jon Sparham of Wymondham who dropped just one point and finished with a shot difference of +39 shots.
