With Wymondham out of sight at the top of the Breckland League the battle for the runner-up spot is hotting up. Forncett are currently third in the table after a 10-0 home win against Shropham in which Becky Humphreys’ triple won 23-7 and Bryan Preece’s triple won by 26-6. That leaves them nine points behind second placed Harling Griffins but with a match in hand over the Griffins. Harling Griffins were involved in a local derby at home to Harling Unicorns and, despite winning that game by 6-4, will regard that as points lost in their battle against Forncett. Mike Tarrant’s Unicorns triple were in great form winning 25-6 and was backed up by Nigel Battley’s triple who won 16-11. Griffins earned the match points though due to a 25-5 win for Sid Burton’s triple and a 21-8 win for Carl Sturgess’s triple. A close match at Carleton Rode saw the home side defeat Thetford by 6-4 on points and 57-53 on shots. Karl Bunn, Debbie Bunn & Graham Atter made the difference with a 16-8 win for the home side. Shropham suffered another heavy defeat going down 10-0 at Hingham where Sheila Bragg’s triple won 19-13 and John Hunter’s triple won 17-7.
