It proved to be a hard fought battle in the Bure League when Hevingham entertained Thorpe Marriott this week. The home side won both first half games as Betty Cox, Teresa Goldsmith & Selwyn Goldsmith won 16-14 and Rex Cox, Chris Brooks & David Sharpe won 12-8. In the second half Jenny Walker, Jack Gray & Derek Sheldrake hit back for the visitors with a big 23-9 win to finish first. On the other mat Nigel James, Pat Hall & Jane James of Hevingham led Gavin Gray, Lydia Kettlewell & Tony Turner by 14-6 with one end remaining. With the overall shots tied at 51-51 at this stage the last end was vital as to which side collected the match points. After a tension filled final end Jane James' triple emerged with the all important shot to earn Hevingham an 8-2 home win.
